City Tour Program
Pick you up on your Nairobi residence at 7:30AM and start our tour heading to Lang’ata area.
We shall start with Karen Blixen Museum, located 10 km outside of Nairobi, Kenya, “at the foot of the Ngong Hills”, is the former African home of Danish author Karen Blixen, famous for her 1937 book Out of Africa which chronicles life at the farmhouse. Here, we shall learn about Kenya’s history before colonization, tour the house and see the original decor and props from the 1985 film.
Tour takes us to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust operates an orphan elephant rescue and wildlife rehabilitation program in Kenya. Here you will be able to see baby elephants being fed from bottles by their keepers. After being fed, the baby elephants will be playing on the mud and running around. A sight to behold.
We shall then head over to the Giraffe Centre is located in Lang’ata, approximately 20 kilometres from the centre of Nairobi, Kenya. It was established in order to protect the vulnerable giraffe, that is found only in the grasslands of East Africa. The main attraction for both school children and visitors is feeding giraffes from a raised observation platform. The Giraffe Center is also home to several warthogs which freely roam the area along with the giraffes.
Finalize the tour at Kazuri Beads creates beautiful ceramic ornaments at their workshop. They started in 1975 with just to single mothers and now has over 340 women skilled in the crafting of ceramic beads strung into beautifully and artistically jewelry.
